Take a boat trip to explore the islands and wildlife of Pembrokeshire from a view point many don’t get to see. Tuck into delicious food made with the finest Pembrokeshire goodies or watch the experts knock up a dish in minutes at a food festival.
Browse a nationally acclaimed gallery or museum and stand in awe of their amazing works of arts and artefacts. Get up close to the diverse art and craft makers of Pembrokeshire with a visit to their studios and mills. Spend a day wrapped in seaweed or plunge into a warm pool with killer views at a totally chilled spa. Then you’re ready to head out to experience the talents of Pembrokeshire’s musicians, whether it is a traditional folk band in the corner of the local pub to classical concert in the grand setting of St Davids Cathedral. You might discover the next big thing.
Museums, craft centres and art galleries are very plentiful throughout Pembrokeshire, so no matter what your taste, there is something for everyone. For those of you who always need a spot of retail therapy after a few days on the beach, Saundersfoot, Tenby and Narberth are all within 7 miles of Pinewood, while Haverfordwest, the lovely St Davids and quaint Newport offer alternatives a little further afield.
Fun For All The Family
Just 3 miles from Pinewood is Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo, fun for all the family. New for 2013, Penguin Coast, a state-of-the-art saltwater enclosure that allows you to view the penguins from underwater.
Blue Lagoon Water Park, Pembrokeshire’s premier undercover water park, is a pleasant 20 minute drive away from Pinewood. Giant wave machines,rapids river rides, water flumes and much, much more provide fun, thrills and aqua excitement for all.
Oakwood Theme Park, with over 30 thrilling attractions for all ages is 7 miles from Pinewood. Open from 10am to 10pm during July and August with after dark rides, entertainment and firework displays.
Just outside Tenby there is the Dinosaur Park with over 30 dinos set along a woodland trail. On the Tenby to St Florence road you will find the action adventure playground of Heatherton, with its zip wires, treetops adventure trail and Sky Tower. In the same area there is Manor House Wildlife Park, Anna Ryder-Richardson’s Welsh Zoo where you can expect a real hands-on experience in four Zoonique Animal Walkthroughs.
History & Culture
For our guests seeking a historical and cultural experience, we have 7 magnificent castles, each within a 15 mile drive of Pinewood. Laugharne to the east, Manorbier, Pembroke and the lovely Carew to the west; Llawhaden, Picton and Haverfordwest to the north. Besides this there is the Tudor Merchant’s House in Tenby, The Bishop’s Palace at Lamphey and the serene experience of Caldey Island with its monastery, Old Priory and ancient churches is just a short boat ride from Tenby.
For garden lovers we have the National Trust’s Colby Woodland Garden right on our doorstep. This is a short 3 minute drive or a very pleasant 30 minute stroll along the Coastal Footpath. Upton Castle Gardens, near Carew, consists of 35 acres of listed historic gardens, along with a medieval chapel. Picton Castle Gardens are a delight and make a splendid day out when combined with a tour of the castle.
Beauty & The Beach
For many of our visitors, the beach is the place to be and we have some of the finest and most diverse anywhere in Europe. In fact, National Geographic Magazine voted Pembrokeshire as being in the TOP TEN of coastal destinations in the WORLD in 2013! What an accolade.
A short 5 minute walk away from Pinewood and you will arrive at the south facing Wiseman’s Bridge beach, a perfect mix of sand, stone and fascinating rock pools. Something for everyone. We have a small selection of fishing nets, buckets and spades and body boards for our guests to borrow.
A 20 minute walk, or 5 minute drive to the east is Amroth beach, with almost a mile of golden sand. A 20 minute walk to the west, or again a 5 minute drive, are the family friendly sandy havens of Coppet Sands and Saundersfoot. Slightly further away is Tenby North Beach, overlooking the attractive harbour and Carmarthen Bay and just around the corner is Tenby South Beach, where at low tide, acres upon acres of golden sands are revealed.
A pleasant car ride or bus journey along the South Pembrokeshie Coast and you will find the glorious beaches of Manorbier, Freshwater East, the stunning Barafundle Bay, and just beyond, the idyllic Broad Haven South.
All the above are within a 40 minute car ride of Pinewood, further afield there is Freshwater West, Broad Haven North, Newgale and Whitesands Bay, all being top surfing, surf canoeing, kite and wind surfing locations. For families, Newport and Poppit Sands are ideal, while Caerfai Bay, Marloes and Swanlake Bay offer more seclusion.
For Water Lovers
Pembrokeshire has the perfect combination of wild open ocean, calm estuarine waters and secluded bays regularly offering up world-class conditions throughout the year.
The coastline offers surfers, windsurfers, kitesurfers, kayakers, jet skiers, and sailors a dizzying array of options, whether beginner or seasoned pro.
Add coasteering, diving, snorkelling and angling to the mix and you can see why Pembrokeshire becomes a first class destination for lovers of water.
Coastal Walks
The scenery can only be described as stunningly beautiful and extremely varied from towering cliffs, vast sweeps of sand and coastal castles to quiet river estuaries and quaint towns and villages.
One of the best ways to enjoy the coastal footpath is to use the coastal bus services, allowing linear walks to be undertaken from many points around the coast.

More Activities
For the equine minded, just 3 miles away are the stables at Marros. Enjoy a leisurely ride through the woods and fields, improve your skills with a lesson and ride, or for the more experienced, how about a beach ride?
For those with a head for heights, Pembrokeshire has some of the finest sea cliff climbing in the world and a new series of guides to help you find that perfect climb.
Pembrokeshire, with its vast array of different habitats is a paradise for wildlife lovers. Bird life is abundant and diverse throughout the year with kites, choughs, peregrines and puffins being just a few of the attractions. For wildflower lovers, spring and early summer sees the hedgerows and cliffs awash with blues, pinks, whites, yellows and purples. If you are lucky you may see one of the counties expanding population of otters, or one of the many seals or porpoises that frequent the coastal waters.
